Beaches with Blue Flag certification in Cancun

Blue Flag is a certification granted by the European Foundation for Environmental Education to beaches and ports that comply with a series of environmental conditions and facilities.

The Mexican Caribbean has 9 blue flag beaches and five of them are in Cancun! This award can only be given to beaches that have a high water quality, environmental education, safety and services to tourists. It is not that simple to achieve this certification.

Las Perlas Beach

Las Perlas Beach is one of the first beaches in the hotel zone, located in km 2. This beach is ideal for children, the sea is quite calm in this area and at the entrance to the beach there is a playground for them.

On sundays this beach is filled with local families because of its proximity and good services such as free parking and beach umbrellas.

The famous Chac Mol Beach

It is one of the most popular beaches in Cancun, not only because it is located in one of the busiest areas of the hotel zone in the 9.5 km but also because it has a large area of sand and waves of average size for everyone to enjoy.

During the high seasons this beach is a party full of sun-thirsty tourists. Close to this beach is the well known beach club Mandala Beach and around you will find different bars, restaurants and hotels.

The beautiful Marlin Beach

This beautiful beach located behind the Plaza Kukulkan is the favorite of wave lovers, perfect for water sports such as surfing.

Playa Marlín has one of the best infrastructure among the five blue flag beaches in Cancun, has bathrooms, tables for rent, chairs, cribs, drinks and snacks are some of the services offered to locals and foreigners.

Playa Marlin is a very good option to spend the day on a not so busy beach but close to all kinds of locals.

Ballenas Beach, the heart of the Hotel Zone

This beach is located in the heart of the Hotel Zone, exactly between Hard Rock Hotel and Secrets The Vine Hotel, in this area you will find much more intense waves, so it is recommended to swim only if you have experience, the main feature of this beach.
