la playa de Cancún

Definitely one of the main reasons why tourists love Cancun is that here they find the most beautiful beaches with soft sand and crystal clear water. Spend the days in these paradisiacal beaches of mild climate is definitely what many seek. Going to the beach is always a good plan if you are in Cancun, summer or winter, morning or afternoon, the sea water always maintains a pleasant temperature to swim.

So we recommend you to leave a few days free of activities to enjoy the Solaris Resort beach and enjoy with your family the delicious food and drinks you will find in the comfort of your resort and one of the most beautiful beaches in the Riviera Maya.

Also, during the whole day you can enjoy different activities in the pool area, participate in games, contests and sports that the entertainment team have planned. Those days on the beach will be the best memories of the vacation in Cancun.

xcaret park naturaleza cancun

The Riviera Maya is a beautiful place to explore, there are beautiful spots in any direction, starting with the cenotes, which are natural pools, open or in caves, some surrounded by stalactites and stalagmites, others of a beautiful tropical jungle, gifts of nature for a hot day in the Caribbean and also hide an ancestral mysticism, since the Maya considered them an entrance to the mythical underworld, a way to communicate with the gods.

There are many cenotes in La Riviera Maya, the best known are in the Ruta de los Cenotes in Puerto Morelos and near Tulum.

If you want to go a little further, we recommend you to visit the beautiful Bacalar Lagoon, which is approximately 4 hours away from Cancun. The Bacalar Lagoon is one of the wonders of the Riviera Maya, a lagoon of crystal clear and cool water in which you can distinguish 7 different shades of blue in the water. The town of Bacalar has an interesting history that you can discover in the museum of the fort of Bacalar.

In the Riviera Maya you will find endless destinations with great charm to visit such as Puerto Morelos, Tulum and Rio Lagartos, a couple of hours from the hotel you can visit small Mayan villages, underground rivers and a coral reef with a large number of colorful fish, to mention some of the wonders that the Riviera Maya has to explore.

7- Discover

xcaret park festival

Depending on the dates you visit the Riviera Maya you can attend some of these unique events that are worthwhile, The Festival of Life and Death by Xcaret that takes place from October 31 to November 2nd every year, to Celebrate the traditional Mexican Day of the Dead, a night of traditions, good food and lots of music in the amazing Xcaret Natural Park, it is the perfect plan for the whole family, if you visit Cancun on those dates, you can not miss it.

Another event that is very worthwhile is the phenomenon that occurs twice a year at the equinoxes in Chichen Itza, the days when the day and the night are equal in time, on March 21st and September 21st a shadow is naturally projected in the form of a snake that falls through the main pyramid. This phenomenon is given thanks to the precise calculations of the great Mayan architects who dominated the knowledge of the stars and used this knowledge in honor of one of their deities, Kukulkan, the feathered serpent whose head is sculpted at the foot of the pyramid. Also in Chichen Itza you can live the experience of seeing the pyramids with a light show at night. While many visit the pyramids during the day, some do it during the night on Tuesdays and Thursdays to witness the incredible Light Show.

8- Culture

cultura maya

An important part of the charm of Cancun is that this city and its surroundings were home to the Mayan civilization and it is very interesting to learn about this important culture when visiting Cancun. You can do this in different archaeological sites, the closest to the Solaris Resorts is El Rey. El Rey is an archaeological site of the pre-Columbian Mayan culture that is located at km.18 of the hotel zone of Cancun, after visiting El Rey we also recommend you to visit the Mayan Museum of Cancun that is located just 1 km away from the archaeological site.

One hour away from the Solaris Resorts is the archaeological site of Tulum, in the paradise city of Tulum, where you will find the ruins of the Mayan Civilization with the most beautiful views since they were built next to the Caribbean Sea. In addition, you can take a tour to travel this important site from the comfort of your Solaris Resorts with transportation included and a specialized guide who will accompany you throughout the tour, giving important information about the traditions of the Mayan Culture.

Another archaeological site that is worth knowing is Cobá, surrounded by jungle and 5 lakes, it is believed that Coba means "rough waters" precisely referring to these lakes that were of great importance for the development of this Mayan city. This archaeological site is not yet fully explored and this makes it very special, experts say that much of this city is still under the jungle without being discovered and that it could be even bigger and more important than Chichén Itzá. From the top of the highest pyramid you can enjoy the beautiful view of the tropical jungle while transporting yourself to the past. You can also do the tour on foot or by bicycle, this is something the little ones love.
